Freda S. McComas
Freda B. McComas, 73, Glenwood, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 30, 1999. Born on August 22, 1925, to the late Lawrence and Dinah Bias, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. McComas, grandson, Thomas Eric McComas, sisters, Bergie Crowley and Lillie Dick, and brothers, Clellan and Goble Bias. Survivors include son, Roger A. McComas and wife, Kathy of Glenwood and his step-children, Michael, Rebekka, Patrick and Tyler Henry; son, Dennis R. McComas of Glenwood and his children, Lani, Ryan, Patrick and Daniel McComas; daughter, Linda McComas Huston and husband, Duane of Tucson, Ariz. and their children, Derek and Brian Huston; son, Kenneth R. McComas and wife, Shirley of Glenwood and their children, Angie Staats, Clayton McComas, Natalie Taylor and Jessica Meadows; daughter, Brenda McComas Bryant and husband, Jim of Ceredo and her children, Tamara Lovejoy, Bradley and Leslie Smith; daughter, Terri McComas Bennett and husband, Jason of Charlotte, NC. and their children, Rachel and Zachary; sisters, Odessa Messenger of Barboursville and Reba Gibson of Huntington. Freda lived to see and enjoy the addition of three great-grandchildren, Kyra Marie Meadows, born to Jessica and Eddie; Tristan Tanner Lovejoy, born to Tamara and Rubon; Justin Thomas Staats born to Angie and Tom and to know and rejoice in the recent birth of Savanna Rae Taylor, born to Natalie and Josh. Freda was a lifelong member of the church with members for many years at Union Chapel United Methodist.
In addition to active participation in the church she worked outside the home for many years retiring as coordinator of the Milton Branch of the Senior Community Services Program in late summer of 1997. She remained active in the Milton Senior Center to time of her death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at Heck Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Dailey and Rev. Gordon L. Rutherford officiating. Burial in Union Ridge Cemetery, Glenwood. The family suggests that memorials be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, Memphis, TN in lieu of flowers.

Thelma L. McComas
Thelma L. McComas, 85, of Milton, widow of Lurelen “Lue” McComas, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999 in St. Mary’s Hospital. Survivors include one son, Richard McComas of Milton; three sisters, Helen Meadows, Elsie Jenkins and Evelyn Jenkins, all of Milton; and one brother, Donald Dailey of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Funeral Friday, Oct. 1, 1999 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Burial in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Milton. Heck Funeral Home, Milton was in charge of arrangements.

Woodrow H. "Woody" McDonie

Mr. Woodrow H. "Woody" McDonie, 80, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Friday, May 7, 1999 in Heritage Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington. Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 10 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Fred Johns officiating. Burial in Maupin Cemetery, Ona, W.Va. Woodrow was born in Cabell County on April 11, 1919. He was a son of the late Sidney Robert and Agnes Jones McDonie. Woodrow was also preceded in death by two wives, Velma Wetherholt McDonie and Mary Smith McDonie; and a half brother, Charles Bias. He was Protestant by faith and a retired carpenter. Woodrow is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Raines of South Point, Ohio, Rhonda Fisher of Charleston, Loretta Yates of Trenton, Mich., and Cheryl Lowery of Maylene, Ala.; three sons, Gary McDonie, John McDonie and Oscar McDonie, all of Cleveland, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Sandee Wallace of Sarasota, Fla.; a stepson, Jerry Smith of Chesapeake, Ohio; two sisters, Dosha Thompson of Hurricane and Mary Frances Lewis of Barboursville; and two brothers, Lonnie McDonie of Belle, W.Va., and James Bias of Barboursville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

ZENA HARLESS MCCLURE

Zena Harless McClure, 90, of Milton, widow of Raymond E. McClure, died Tuesday in St. Albans. She was a homemaker. Survivors include one daughter, Adeline Nelson of St. Albans; two sons, Robert G. McClure of St. Albans and Jimmy McClure of Culloden; and one sister, Ada June Stowers of Reed City, Mich. Funeral was held Friday, April 2nd, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in Sand Fork Cemetery, Griffithsville,W.Va.

Janet McCallister

Janet McCallister, 54, of Milton, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel. Burial in Barker Ridge Cemetery. She was born September 26, 1944, in Cabell County, a daughter of Cecil Clagg of Milton and the late Wilma Holley. She is also survived by her husband, Carl "Paddle" McCallister; one son, Eddie McCallister of Milton; two sisters, Judy McCoy of Florida and Dianah Holley of Ona; and one brother, Ray Clagg of Lesage.
