Ray Melvin Evans, Sr.
(May 11, 1944 - March 24, 2013)



Ray Melvin Evans, Sr., 68, of Huntington, passed away Sunday March 24, 2013 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born May 11, 1944 in Cumberland, Maryland, a son of the late Myrl Stanley and Arbutus Louise Davis Evans. He was a retired employee of CSX. Ray was a veteran of the US Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Carl Evans. Survivors include his wife Virginia Rockwell Evans; two sons Ray Melvin Evans, Jr. and his wife Lisa Evans of Huntington and Jacob Kane Evans of Huntington; two daughters Tonya Sue Evans and Vanessa Ann Stanley both of Huntington; grandchildren Ryan Mitchell (Ashley) Evans, Tristan Ray Evans, Kearston Sue Evans, Chaz Grobe, Alison Kay Adkins, Zachary Dillon and Brackston Stanley; great grandchild Bryson Shawn Evans; brothers and sisters in law Myrl Richard and Loretta Evans of Short Gap, WV, John Jackson and Elizabeth Evans of Knoxsville, TN, Kenneth Leroy and Joanne Evans of Cumberland, MD and Donald and Darlene Evans of SC.; sisters and brothers in law Charlotte Lee of Cumberland, MD, Shirley and Donald Lawrence of LaVale, MD, Betty Jane Umstead of Ft. Ashby, WV and Sandra Kay and Harry Taylor of Cumberland, MD. Friends may call from 11 am to 1 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home. The Veterans Honor Guard of American Legion Post 16 of Huntington will conduct military graveside rites.
