Johnny Dale "Bit" Thacker
(February 2, 1938 - March 4, 2013)



Johnny Dale “Bit” Thacker, 75 of Shoals, WV and Wilgus, OH, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. “Bit” was born on February 2, 1938 to the late Thurman H. “Tod” and Alma P. Thacker in Huntington (Wayne County), West Virginia. “Bit” was not only preceded in death by his parents, but also, his sister, Geraline (Willard) Holley and two brothers, R. Gene (Patricia) Thacker and Donald G. Thacker, Sr. Also preceding him in death were two nephews, Jeffrey A. and Bradley G. Thacker, one niece, and one niece, Pamela Thacker Slavens. Johnny is survived by his wife, Leigh Thacker. Also surviving Johnny are two sisters, Janice G. (Raymond) Mynes, of Austin, TX and Brenda A. Thacker of Huntington, plus two brothers, Paul R. (Sandee) Thacker and Dallas K. (Marlene) Thacker, both of Huntington. Johnny is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Peggy (Michael) Gibson, Debbie (Paul) Martin of Huntington, WV, and Becky Thacker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Stephen (Carol) Mynes and Tammy (Mark) Mynes-Bostick, of Austin, TX, Donald G. Thacker, Jr., of Lake Worth, FL, Lesley Fuller of Huntington, WV, P. Jason Thacker, of Wellington, FL, Danielle (Hal) Stewart of Hurricane WV, and Jordan H. Thacker of Huntington, WV. Johnny is also survived by a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; plus, many dear and treasured friends. “Bit” was a retired Mill Equipment Supervisor at Steel of WV and an owner of two working farms. “Bit” served honorably in the US Army and the WV Army National Guard, serving with the 468 th Field Artillery. “Bit” was a member of the Shoals Missionary Baptist Church, Shoal, and WV where he served as a Sunday school Superintendent and Trustee for many years. “Bit’s” wife and family would like to thank everyone for their many acts of love and kindness shown to him during his life, especially his last year. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Reger Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Larry Skidmore and Pastor Roger Pierce. Interment will be at the Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the Reger Funeral Home, Wednesday evening, March 6, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m.
