Burwell "Burl" Clayton Spreacker
(April 14, 1928 - March 29, 2013)

Burwell “Burl” Clayton Spreacker, 84, fulfilled his favorite song “I’ll Fly Away’ by leaving his earthly home in Proctorville, OH and entering heaven’s glory on March, 29, 2013. He was born April 14, 1928 to the late Arlen and Georgie Fortner Spreacker in Lavalette, WV. Also predeceasing him in 2001 was his beloved wife of fifty-five years and the mother of his children, Rosalie Wyant Spreacker; his sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Henry Perdue; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Jean Spreacker and Charles and Lida Spreacker; brother-in-law Archie Whitmore and a granddaughter-in-law Melissa Lyons. Survivors include his wife of ten years, Lynnette; two daughters; Becky Lyons and husband Herbert; Sally Lowe (Paul Morrison); a son Rev. Dan Spreacker and his wife Sherrill, all of Huntington; one sister Joyce Whitmore; and one brother-in-law Sidney (Rosa) Poynter. Grandchildren Charlie (Terri) Lyons, Melanie Lyons (Wayne Lucas), Tim Ferguson, Andrea (Joe) Porter, and Craig Spreacker (Norma Harbolt); great-grandchildren Austin Ferguson, Daniel and Caitlin Spreacker; step-children Miriam (Duane) Maxey, Conner (Lola) Ray and Nathan Ray (Bonnie Davis); and nieces and nephews, John (Sandy) Perdue, Hope Russell, Gloria Jean Tomblin, Richard Lee Spreacker, Henrietta Spreacker, Charlene McCloud, Tina (Shane) Coffman and David (Jackie) Chapman. Also missing him are Sam, his dog, and his cats Romeo, Calico, and Bridget who idolized him and whom he adored. We extend our thanks and appreciation to Dr. Arvinder Bir and his Oncology staffs at Huntington Internal Medicine Group, St Mary’s Medical Center, The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Dr. Tucker Jennings, Dr. Greg Carico and especially, to family and friends for their visits, phone calls, cards and prayers. Burl worked for S.S. Logan for many years and retired from Frito-Lay after nineteen years of service. He deeply loved the Lord serving him with his whole heart. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was pure and devoted. His mission in life was to call or visit those whom were sick or afflicted. He maintained a garden so the harvest could be shared. He loved to laugh and talk, never to meet a stranger and was a witness for Jesus in speech and actions. Honorary pall bearers are Jack Smith, Elvin Green, Ron Cole, Buddy Logan, George Surgeon and Don Spreacker. Pall bearers will be Tim Ferguson, Charlie Lyons, Craig Spreacker, Austin Ferguson, Wayne Lucas, and Conner Ray. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Darrell Buttram and Owen Jenkins officiating at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Tuesday evening at Reger Funeral Home.
