Gloria Ann Hamer
(January 5, 1924 - March 7, 2013)


Gloria Ann Hamer of Ceredo, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at her home. She was born January 5, 1924 in Kenova, W. Va., the daughter of the late Thomas and Georgia Body Hamer. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday March 10, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Reger Funeral Chapel in Huntington by Reverend Ford Price. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo, WV. She was a member of Ceredo Congregational Church of Ceredo. She was also preceded in death by her brother John M. Hamer and his wife Helga. She is survived by her sister Dr. Sallie Hamer Plymale and her nephews Thomas M. Plymale and Robert H. Plymale and his wife Jennifer, John M. Hamer and his wife Paula. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Lauren Plymale and her fiancé Terry McFann, Allison Plymale, Kaitlin Hamer, James, Alex and Thomas Plymale and his fiancé Amber Webster and great grandniece Kathryn Grace. Gloria was a graduate of the Garfield Hospital in Washington, DC as a member of the Army Cadet Corps during WWII. She retired from International Nickel Company (Special Metals) after 21 years of service. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling. The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers Kelly Schuman and Jill Fuller, the workers from Hospice and her primary care physician Dr. Todd Gress. In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial gift in honor of Dr. Todd Gress be made to the Marshall University Foundation, Inc. for the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Attention: Linda Holmes, 1600 Medical Center Drive, Suite 3409, Huntington, WV 25701 or the Hospice of Huntington 1101 Sixth Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701. Friends may call from 2 pm until service time at the Reger Funeral Home.
