Obituary
Ellen Conrad Compton, 72, of Huntington, WV, faithful wife, caring mother and wonderful homemaker, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington, WV by Pastor Jerry Matt and Pastor Bob Hogsett. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Monday at the Maplewood Cemetery, Elkins, WV. Ellen was born April 8, 1943 in Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Wilson H. and Mayme May Gimmel Conrad. She was a 1961 graduate of Elkins High School, attended Glenville State College, in March of 1962 became an employee of Arlington (Va) Trust Bank, in March 1970 she returned to Elkins where she accepted a job with the Citizen's National Bank, on October 18, 1970 she married Hubert P. Compton, who survives. They were blessed to be able to spend 45 plus years together, along with their children, son David Paul Compton and daughter Rebecca Ellen "Becky" Compton, both of Huntington. After raising her children, she worked at the First Huntington National Bank. She along with her family provided care for her mother-in-law and her parents before their passing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws Vita Compton Kelley and Elim H. Kelley, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Lea and Johnny Nelson, a niece Barbara Susan Nelson and her three faithful companions BoDuke,Teddy and Pennington. In addition to her husband and children, survivors include a brother and sister-in-law Victor L. and Doris Conrad of Hagerstown, MD, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Bob Bounds of Port St. Lucie, FL, nieces and nephews include Janet and Jacques Williams, Jane and Ray Francis, Bob Bounds, Rachel and John Fabrizio, Dan Bounds, Michael Conrad, Mark and Becky Conrad, Melissa Conrad, several great nieces and great nephews, her caregivers Erin Noble and Becky Murphy and her "grand dog" Spencer. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. The family wishes to thank the many doctors and their staffs who treated Mom over the past 13 years for all of their care and kindness. Also, to the entire staff and volunteers of Hospice of Huntington. Thanks to all of you.
