Obituary

Alpha Adkins Childers
(June 15, 1923 - June 25, 2018)

HUNTINGTON, WEST VIRGINIA - Alpha (Adkins) Childers, 95, of Huntington, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord on Mon. June 25, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 15, 1923 in Branchland, WV, the daughter of the late Elijah and Minnie (Tooley) Adkins. She was a member of Bloomingdale-Salem Baptist Church. For the past several years she has lived in Fultonham, Ohio with her daughter Rowena Diamond. She retired from Owens-Illinois in Huntington after 30 years of service. She is survived by one son Darrell (Diana) Childers of Harrisburg, NC, one daughter Rowena (Pastor Larry) Diamond of Fultonham, four grandsons, and 14 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, one son, three brothers and six sisters. Friends may call Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 12 – 1 p.m. with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, W.Va., with Pastor Bill Davis and Pastor Chris Fulks officiating. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, West Virginia.
