Obituary

JOHNNY GILKERSON
(May 25, 1937 - May 16, 2018)

JOHNNY GILKERSON, 80, of Bowen Creek Road, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Elder Emual Adkins and Elder Delmer Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. He was born May 25, 1937, in Wayne, a son of the late Grady and Esta Tabor Gilkerson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Orville Glen Gilkerson, and a nephew, Richard Gilkerson. He was retired from ACF Industries and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving on the USS Ranger. He is survived by his wife of over fifty-eight years, Cynthia Baker Gilkerson; two sisters, Euella Chapman of Huntington and Mavis Watts of Ironton, Ohio; two brothers, Harvey Gilkerson and his wife Dottie of Wayne and Sammy Gilkerson and his wife Sue of East Lynn, W.Va.; and four nieces, Mavis Ann, Vicki, Angie and Pam. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
