Bobby Lee McKinney
(July 8, 1941 - May 8, 2018)


BOBBY LEE McKINNEY, 76, of Ona, W.Va., formerly of Barboursville, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018. He was born July 8, 1941, in Besoco, W.Va., a son of the late Robert E. Lee McKinney and Frances Virginia Hunter McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Catherine Martin McKinney, and one sister, Laura Ellen McKinney. He was a veteran of the United States Navy as a Navy Corpsman and also worked with the Marines at Camp Lejeune. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1959. He graduated from Beckley College and attended Marshall University. Bobby was a former Nationwide Insurance adjuster, worked in packaging supplies including co-owner of Pressco, and a co-founder of Carpet Ladies. He was a member of Gideon's International. He was a member of WV Right to Life Cabell County Chapter. He was a former worker in the bus ministry at church, member of Promise Keepers, and he spearheaded the Men's Ministry at Fellowship Baptist Church. He was one of the co-founders of Camp Caleb. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church's 9/11 cleanup crew. He went with a group of men from Fellowship to build a church in Panama. He is survived by two daughters, Alicia Renee McKinney (David) Bowyer of Beckley, W.Va., and Debra (Mike) Moon; one son, Brian Christopher McKinney; one brother, Leslie George (Donna) McKinney; four grandchildren, Adrian Grant Sauls, Jeremy Austin Sauls, Michael Ryan Moon and Devan Cole McKinney. The family would like to thank the staff at Midland Meadows for their loving care of their dad. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Fellowship Baptist Church by Dr. Jerry Warren and Pastor Gavin Napier. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements.
