Obituary

Jane S. Edelen
(February 12, 2946 - November 3, 2018)

JANE S. EDELEN entered into eternal rest on November 3, 2018. She was born February 12, 1946, in Louisville, Ky., to the late James and Margaret Doyle Swift. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Martin Edelen of Barboursville; daughter, Anastacia Edelen of Huntington; son, James Edelen, daughter-in-law, Lacy, and granddaughters, Jacie and Lucy, all of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret JoAnn Dupre of Champaign, Ill. She began her work career in 1964 in the mail room of The Jenner Company in Louisville, Ky. After moving to West Virginia in 1987, she worked for Cabell County Schools as a substitute secretary and at several additional Huntington area businesses. She retired in 2009 as bookkeeper for Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity. She was incredibly generous with her time and volunteered for a variety of community organizations including Kentucky Railway Museum, Barboursville Little League Baseball, WV PTA, HFH Collegiate Challenge, Huntington's Kitchen, HIMG Medical Center and Our Lady of Fatima's annual Lenten fish dinners. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Huntington, American Heart Association Go Red for Women or The GYN Carcinosarcoma Project. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements.
