Cordelia Matilda Acker
(August 27, 1919 - July 14, 2012)

Cordelia Matilda Acker, 92, of Huntington, departed this life on Saturday July 14, 2012, bound for her new life in heaven, and a new angel got her wings. Her children rose up and called her blessed. She was born August 27, 1919 in Cabell County, WV, a daughter of the late Pope Homer and Ethel Elva Rayburn Bryan. She also had a son, George Roger Acker, two great grandchildren, Jasmine and Rachel; four brothers and two sisters precede her in death. She worked for Adel Fasteners for over 30 years and after retirement worked at the former Hillview Nursing Home, and was a member of the Walnut Hills Nazarene Church. Survivors include her two daughters, Marcia Lynn Acker of Huntington and Dana Diann Freeman of Paris, KY; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Monday July 16, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington. Friends may visit one hour before services at the funeral home.
