Ethel Marie Nelson, 84, of Huntington, WV, died Monday July 23, 2012 in Midland Meadows Senior Living, Ona, WV. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday July 26, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. Ethel was born November 15, 1927 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Alexander & Effie Hazelett Wilks. She was retired from the former Anderson-Newcombe Department Store with over 20 years of service. She was a member of Grace Gospel Church and was an excellent seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Leonard “Bud” Nelson, one sister, Pauline Stewart, two brothers, Alexander Wilks, Jr. & Frank Wilks. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Jenkins & husband Elliott of Huntington, Carol Perry & husband Jim of Ona, one son, Terry Nelson & wife Mary of Hickory, NC, 7 grandchildren, Tammy Stephens & husband Joey of LA, Ryan Slappe & husband Dwight of Huntington, Jimmy Perry & wife Katy Lowry of Boston, MA, Stephanie Carter & husband Jamie of Hickory, Christopher Nelson of Walterboro, SC, Joseph & Sarah Nelson both of Hickory, three great-grandchildren, Chauncey, Dylan & Garret Stephens of LA, two brothers, Leslie Wilks & wife Martha & Charles Wilks & wife Barbara all of Piqua, OH.
