Linda Lou Smith
(August 30, 1940 - April 14, 2015)

Linda Lou Smith, 74, of Huntington, widow of Vinson Lowell Smith, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in her home in her granddaughter's loving arms. She was born August 30, 1940, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Wilbur Lee Plymale and Dollie Collins Plymale Gillispie. She worked at the former Owens Illinois, the Berry Hill Garden and Craft Center, and was a retail merchandiser for several companies. Linda was a lifetime member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, a former member of the YMCA, and a wonderful cook with a passion for new recipe finds and baking. She was one whom family and friends would come to when needing a listening ear. She was the keeper of dreams and secrets of the family. When described by kids and grandchildren she was truly their best friend. One of her favorite quotes was "God bless his/her heart." She will be missed by many and never forgotten as we continue to celebrate her life. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Deneene Beth and Richard Chafin of Hurricane, and Lee Ann Smith and life partner, Jodi Kaplan of Sacramento, CA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ed Smith of Huntington, and Vinson Phillip and Debbie Smith of Indianapolis, IN; a step daughter, Sherry Jones of Desert Springs, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Nikki Plymale of Huntington; five grandchildren, Richard Barry Chafin II and wife Amanda Chafin, Sarah Brittni Chafin, Lauren Elizabeth Smith, Rebekah Erin Williams and husband Patton Williams, and Vinson Phillip Smith, Jr.; three nieces, Valerie Smith-Carr, Bernice Davidson, Jennifer Taylor and nephew Jamie Smith; six great grandchildren, John Patton Williams, Audrey Chafin, Ryan Chafin, Caleb Schneiger, Adison Lovely, and Serenity Cooper; her life long best friend Patty Vickers and her loving animal companions, Zookie and Mr. Grey. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Chapman's Mortuary with the Rev. Greg Creasy officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington. Friends may visit one hour before services Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary.
