Obituary

The Reverend Charles Denver Dailey, age 93, of Ona, West Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 18, at his residence. He passed peacefully with his wife and children at his side. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 20, at 2 p.m. at Heck Funeral Home in Milton by the Reverends James L. Dailey and Paul R. Meadows. Denver was born October 6, 1912, in Springfield, Ohio, and was the son of the late Edward Filmore and Effie (Wood) Dailey and lived most of his life in eastern Cabell County. He was ordained into the ministry in 1941 and over the years faithfully and lovingly served and pastored Salem United Baptist Church, Smith Creek United Baptist Church, Madison Creek United Baptist Church and spent over 30 years pastoring at Barker Ridge United Baptist Church. He was retired from Connors Steel of Huntington with thirty years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Edna Jarvis, Marie Cain, Audra Smith and brother, Alva Dailey. Denver is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Ola Mae Ashworth Dailey; three sons and daughters in law and one daughter and son in law, Dennie and Patricia, Glen and Karen, Sara and Robert Bailey of Ona; and David Michael and Ollie of Teays Valley. He had eight grandchildren Scott and Evan of Ona, Wayne of Jane Lew, West Virginia, Jenny of Williamstown, West Virginia, David and Doug of Boyds, Maryland, and Nathanael and Elizabeth Bailey of Morgantown, West Virginia and four great grandchildren, Kathleen, Abigail, Charles, and Emily. Visitation will be Saturday, November 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Cemetery.
