Obituary

Johnny Dale Jordan
(May 12, 1943 - July 14, 2011)

Johnny Dale Jordan, 68, of Salt Rock, WV went to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Johnny was born May 12, 1943, in Cabell County, a son of the late John Wayne Frye and Evelyn Jordan. He was also preceded in death by his uncles who he loved, Bob and Cap Frye and his aunt Katy Frye; one step-son, Jerry Eaves. Survivors include his loving wife Shirley Ann Gue Jordan; five daughters, JoAnn Jordan of Massachusetts, Carrie Estanislao of California, Ruth Kidd of Leroy, W.Va. Cindy and Marc Cooper of Huntington, Amanda and Jamie Terry of Barboursville; one special son, Carlton Roy Eaves who called him JJ Dad; two sisters, Sue White of Barboursville and Mary Clay of Huntington; grandchildren, Corey, Lexie and Kiersten Cooper, Cayla Eaves, Jamie Adkins who Johnny called his Little Man, BriAnna Terry; uncle, Sherman and Winnie Frye; one special friend, Keith Craft who loved him very much. He also had several nephews and nieces and special friends and a special cat named Jessie. Johnny was a graduate of Barboursville High School. He joined the Air Force after graduation then went on to serve in the Army National Guard as a Medic. He was a veteran of Desert Storm. Johnny retired from CSX, Cabell County Board of Education and the Army National Guard. He was a man who could do anything but the job he loved most was being on his farm, cutting hay and taking care of his animals. He was honest, hard working and didn't want anything given to him unless he worked for it. He will leave a big void in our lives because he was someone everyone looked up to. He was humble, simple, honest hard working man who was steadfast in what he did but persevered in everything he attempted. He was a caring father and a loving husband and his family who loved him very much. But the most important thing is, he is now with Jesus and we all can see him one day soon. The family would like to thank all the ones who helped through his illness especially Keith Craft, Bobby Johnson, Lora Hall, Lisa McClung his home health nurse and a special thanks to his caring pulmonary specialist Dr. William Weiss. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor David Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow in Frye Cemetery with full military honors performed. Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
