Proctor L. "Bud" Scragg
(May 26, 1927 - July 1, 2011)



Proctor L. "Bud" Scragg, 84, of Barboursville, WV, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born May 26, 1927, in Lincoln County, WV, a son of the late Bertha Cummings Scragg Lycans and John Scragg. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Deloris Scragg. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Laura Spurlock, Dessie Woods, Zenobia Barton and Mabel Richmond, and brothers, Roy Scragg, Conard Scragg, Harold Scragg and Jim Lycans. He was employed at Spurlock's Flowers for fifty-five years. His coworkers were more than friends, they were his family also. He loved working there. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He is survived by one son, Roger Scragg and his wife Jerri; two daughters, Sharon Dillard and Angie Watts and her husband Chuck; grandsons, Rick Dillard, Josh Scragg, and Zach Scragg; granddaughters, Jessica Watts and Chelsea Watts; great granddaughters, Kayla Thompson, and Senturi Scragg; great grandsons, Isaiah Scragg and Rickey Dillard; a great great granddaughter, Kaylee Shea Thompson; sisters-in-law, Arita Hooser and Linda Stickler; a special nephew, Gene Spurlock; and a very special friend who went above and beyond to help him, David Wall. The family would like to thank his care takers Karen Johnson and David Scragg for being so caring and kind to him. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with the Rev. David Cardwell officiating. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV.
