DOROTHY JEAN HUNTER ALLEN
(August 16, 1928 - July 24, 2015)

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DOROTHY JEAN HUNTER ALLEN, August 16, 1928-July 24, 2015. Dorothy Jean Hunter Allen passed away on July 24, 2015, at Teays Valley Assisted Living in Hurricane, W.Va. She was preceded in death by husband James W. "Dink" Allen, parents Aurora Hunter Booth and Ormond Hunter, and brother Raymond Hunter. Dorothy Allen was employed at St. Mary's Hospital, where she was Head of the Admissions Department until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barboursville, W.Va., and a contributing member up until her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville. Mrs. Allen's immediate family included daughter Rebecca and her husband Thomas Baldwin of Barboursville, and their children Hunter and Zachary, also of Barboursville; son James Jr., and wife Jacqueline of Barboursville, their children Taylor, who lives in Huntington, W.Va., and Mackenzie of Barboursville. She was also excited at the announcement of great-granddaughter Avery pending the birth to Zachary and fiancée Emily Bartram. Dorothy Jean Allen enjoyed a long and joyous life with a large circle of close friends and business associates. We should mention special lifelong friends Ann Allen, sister-in-law from Huntington, W.Va., Dorothy Ferris of Huntington, W.Va., and Joan Grove of Barboursville, W.Va. Dorothy Jean Allen was one of the matriarchs of a large and loving family, and her presence and contributions will be missed by all. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements, and again, in lieu of flowers, send donations to First United Methodist Church of Barboursville, W.Va. A service for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, July 31, 2015 at Ridgelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Huntington. The 1 p.m. service will be conducted by the Reverend Kerry Bart.
