Obituary

CLARA LEE FRANKLIN WARD
(December 8, 1934 - July 31, 2015)


CLARA LEE FRANKLIN WARD, 80, of Ona, W.Va., fondly known by her family and friends as "Cotton", passed away on July 31, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center, after an 11-month battle with cancer. Clara was born December 8, 1934, in Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Arthur G. Franklin and Lillian I. Franklin. Clara was a 1953 graduate of Guyan Valley High School and a 39-year employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. of Huntington, WV. In 1956, Clara married Edmund L. Ward, her surviving husband of 59 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son Mark (Kim) Ward and granddaughter Heather; one daughter Patti Paugh and grandson Chad W. Paugh. Also surviving are three siblings: brother, George (Berna) Franklin of Roanoke, Va and two sisters, Revada F. Dingess and Wilma A. Franklin of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville with Minister Alan C. Cole of the 26th Street Church of Christ officiating. Entombment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum will follow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 26th Street Church of Christ, 101 26th Street, Huntington, WV 25703. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. DeEulis and the nursing staff for their compassionate care of our loved one.
