Lillian Virginia Carter
(September 10, 1027 - July 31, 2015)



Lillian Virginia Carter, 87, of Barboursville, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 31, 2015 at Chateau Grove Senior Living. She was born September 10, 1927 in Cabell County, a daughter of the late John and Lilyann Hill Hanger. She is also preceded in death by one son, Glenn Allen Carter; brothers, John Hanger Jr., James Hanger and her former husband George Lincoln Carter. She was a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, and Steele Singles and More Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Huntington High School and attended Marshall University. Lillian had several careers and retired from Reuschlein Jewelers where she worked for many years as a sales clerk. She always had a special place in her heart for animals, her family, and especially her grandchildren. She loved to read, cook, spend time with her loved ones and her church family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Georgann Carter Holbrook (Rodney M.); one brother, Robert Bruce Hanger (Daphne); three grandchildren, Amanda N. Holbrook, Benjamin A. Holbrook, Clayton N. Holbrook; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may visit from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. by Rev. Ralph Sager. It was Lillian’s wish to be cremated.
