WENDELL V. "BILL" ASHWORTH
(September 8, 1934 - June 26, 2016)



WENDELL V. "BILL" ASHWORTH, 81, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away June 26, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born September 8, 1934, in Lincoln County, W.Va., a son of the late Jeremiah and Pearl Eggleston Ashworth. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Preston Ashworth, Jerry C. Ashworth and Leslie Ashworth; and one sister, Emily Ashworth. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mae Ashworth; one daughter, Brenda Ashworth Betts of Huntington; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rodney Ashworth and his wife Carol Ashworth, Jeffrey Ashworth and Anthony Ashworth and his wife Karen Ashworth, all of Huntington; one sister, Ruth Alford of Hurricane, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Trevor Ashworth, Ryan Ashworth, Jessica Ashworth, Chase Ashworth, Nicholas Ashworth and Brandon Ashworth, one great-granddaughter, Adley Ashworth; and one step-granddaughter, Shae Eckert. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Junior Smith. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family would like to especially thank the first responders, Cabell Huntington Trauma Staff, SICU, and John Posocco for their kindness and care shown during Bill's time of need. Papaw loved his 4-legged granddaughters, Prissy and Little Bit. We will miss you forever Papaw.
