Jo Ann Smarr, wife of Richard Ashby Smarr and daughter of the late Antonio and Pauline Teets, went home to her Heavenly Father the morning of November 8, 2016. A stay-at-home mother to Beth Smarr of Barboursville, WV, Robin Morgan (Mike) of Kitty Hawk, NC, Andy Smarr (Becky) of Huntington, WV, and Jack Smarr (Julia) of Versailles, KY. Jo Ann was active in the Barboursville Baptist Church teaching Sunday school and presiding over the Woman's Circle. She also, for a time, managed the credit union at the Herald-Dispatch. Besides her husband and children, she is also survived by her sisters Toni Collins (Joe) of South Point, OH, and Linda Runyon (Charles) of Rush, KY, and a host of grandchildren: Travis Smarr, Kara Smarr, and Kelley Copeland of Virginia Beach, VA; Ryan Smarr (Maggie) of Turner's Falls, MA; Katie Morgan of Kitty Hawk, NC; Stephanie Morgan of Raleigh, NC; Ian Smarr of Lexington, KY; Raley Smarr of Murray State University, Murray, KY; Spc. Griffan Smarr of Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY; Sam Smarr of Versailles, KY; and six great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Jo Ann loved her family, her friends, her home, and her Lord. She taught her children the joy of reading and singing silly songs, many of which she made up. Special thanks to Melissa Cooper from Hospice of Huntington for her care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice whose help eased her last months. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 10, at the Wallace Funeral Home on Central Avenue, in Barboursville, WV. Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 by Pastor Evan Arkell. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
