Obituary

Robin Karen Anderson Caldwell
(February 23, 1960 - May, 2017)

Robin Karen Anderson Caldwell of Ona, WV lived fifty-seven years, nine of them after receiving the diagnosis that she had stage IV terminal metastatic breast cancer. Many people that met her didn’t even know she had terminal cancer because she did such a great job at being positive and showing people her best self. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Anderson, mother Dorothy Elizabeth Jordan, sister Kelly Lynn Anderson Conley, and father Luther Miles Anderson. Robin was born on February 23, 1960 in Livonia, Michigan. She told many stories of growing up on Greenbrier Drive in Huntington and Blue Sulphur Gardens in Ona. She graduated from Barboursville High School; she played clarinet and was drum major of the marching band. She worked for Ashland Oil as a type-setter. She ran day-to-day operations at the family business, Caldwell’s Farmers Exchange, where she perfected her skills of backing up trailers and selling orange tractors. She went back to school at Cabell County Vo-Tech’S ONOW program where she discovered a love of computer aided drafting. She took this new-found skill and worked as a draftsman at GEF Incorporated in Winfield, WV until her retirement. Robin enjoyed DIY projects in the garden and in the home. She loved to crochet and sew, but could also just as easily hold her own around the home improvement store. She also spent lots of her time at band competitions and softball games watching her children and grandchildren perform and compete. She leaves behind a husband, J.B. Caldwell; daughter, Amanda McClellan and her husband Michael of Scott Depot, WV; son, Josh Caldwell of Dunbar, WV, and two granddaughters Kathryn and Maggie McClellan. She is survived by her brother, Steve (Dot) of Sylva, NC, nieces, nephews, and her dogs, Melly and Gabby, who kept her company during her days spent at home. The family would like to thank the staff at HIMG Oncology – specifically Dr. Gerrit Kimmey and his staff of wonderful, caring health professionals. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, in Barboursville, WV. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
