Helen Louise Knight Hutchinson
(December 19, 1936 - May 19, 2017)



Helen Louise Knight Hutchinson, 80, of Huntington, WV, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born December 19, 1936 in Cabell County, the daughter of the late William and Lessie Robinson Knight. She is survived by her husband John Hutchinson Sr. (retired from Owens-Illinois) with whom she would have celebrated her 63rd wedding anniversary in July. She is also survived by four children; John Hutchinson Jr., Kristie Blake-Burgess, Steven (Laura) Hutchinson, and Joe (Jennifer) Hutchinson; four grandchildren, E.R. Blake III, Sara Hutchinson, Callie Hutchinson, and Jessica Hutchinson; and one great-granddaughter Brooklynne Blake whom she adored. She graduated from Huntington East High School in 1954 and worked on her class reunions for many years, she also joined in organizing Huntington High School Class of 1954 reunions where she had many friends. She participated with her daughter in the Owens-Illinois ladies’ softball team and bowling league. She was active in politics for many years. She was a member of 20th Street Baptist Church. She loved playing her piano, gardening, writing poetry, painting, cooking and baking. She loved life and her family. She was the best wife and mom ever. Thank you to Hospice of Huntington for their kindness and care during Helen’s illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Rick Glass. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
