Ray Duane Ogden
(July 7, 1935 ~ September 27, 2017)



Ray Duane Ogden, 82, of Huntington, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Wyngate Senior Living Community in Barboursville, WV. He was born on July 7, 1935 in Lumberport, WV, the son of the late Paul G. Ogden and Goldie Mae Matthew Ogden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty MacIntyre and Crystal Ogden. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary McBee Ogden; sister, Deloris Jackson Price of Core, WV; children, David Ray Ogden and his wife, Maureen, of Dovie, FL, and Amy Lynne Ogden and her best friend, Jennifer Peters of Ashville, NC. Ray was a 1953 Lumberport  High School graduate where he was class Valedictorian, played football, was on the student council, honor club, Hi-Y and science club. Ray received his BS from WVU College of Pharmacy in 1957. He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed at Walter Reed Hospital.  He was a member of Mortar and Pestle, West Virginia State Pharmacy Association, and was the treasurer for the Southern West Virginia Pharmacy Association, and a member of A.F. & A.M. Mount Olivet Lodge No. 3, Parkersburg, WV. He was also a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.  He was the owner of Town and Country Pharmacy and later the owner of the Medicine Shoppe. Ray loved the outdoors, woodworking and spending time with his family. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Lisa Graves officiating. The family will receive friends after 12:00 p.m. at the Church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. John’s Episcopal Church or Hospice of Huntington. Beard Mortuary is assisting the family.
