Donald A. Wahlman
(July 23, 1927 ~ September 11, 2017)
Donald A. Wahlman, 90, of Birmingham
Alabama, formerly of Huntington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on
September 11, 2017. Born on July 23, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio, he was a son
of the late John and Esther Wahlman. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wahlman; brothers, Elmer, Bob,
Harold, and his sister, Evelyn. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie
(David) Marshall of Orlando, FL; son, Don (Mary Beth) Wahlman of Birmingham,
AL; 7 grandchildren, Heather, Matthew (Lucy), Martha (Wes), Tyler, Ben,
Philip, Rachel and 2 great-grandchildren, Carson and Abbey Grace. Donald
was a C.M.A. who earned his BA from Youngstown State University and his MA
from Marshall University. He will be remembered as a godly man who loved his
family dearly and cherished the moments he had with his wife of 56 years
until her passing in 2009. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave
him great joy each time he was with them. He was an avid Marshall
Thundering Herd and Cincinnati Reds fan. Donald worked at Houdaille
Industries for 30 years and then as an accounting professor at Marshall
University for 12 years (1980-1992) until his retirement. He was a member of
Beverly Hills Methodist Church serving as finance chairman and a choir
member for many years. He greatly enjoyed singing in the choir at both
Beverly Hills and Zion Presbyterian churches. Funeral Services will be held
at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Beard Mortuary in
Huntington, with Rev. Donald E. Wahlman, officiating. Burial will follow at
Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington. The family will welcome friends one
hour prior to services at the funeral home. A memorial service will also be
held at Zion Presbyterian Church in Columbia, TN at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday,
September 17, 2017.
