William Frederick Peterson

William Frederick Peterson, 99, of
Huntington, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Woodlands
Retirement Community in Huntington. Born on March 10, 1918 in O’Shanter, PA,
he was a son of the late Vennard F. Peterson and Ella D. Peterson. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva
Marjorie Yeager Peterson and his siblings. Bill was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church in Huntington, a 1935 graduate of Huntington East High
School and Marshall College in 1940. He served time in the Navy during World
War II and upon returning, received a job at Inco Nickel where he remained a
loyal employee for over 43 years, retiring as Chief Financial Officer. “His
tender and untiring care for his daughter, Mardi, for the past 70 years is
the definition of unconditional love.” Bill is survived by his daughter,
Mardi Ann Peterson, of Huntington, and several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. A Graveside service will
be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Woodmere Memorial
Park Abbey of Peace mausoleum in Huntington, with Rev. Suzanne Ellis,
officiating. The family will welcome friends for visitation one hour prior
to services. Entombment will follow. Beard Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.
