Geraldine Paglina Simmons
(February 23, 1928 ~ September 13, 2017)
Geraldine “Gerry” Paglina Simmons,
89, passed away September 13, 2017. She was preceded in death by her
mother, Ruby, and her husband, William Simmons. She will be greatly missed
by her five children, Bill (Linda), Gerrianne Simmons, Steve (Becky), Scott
(Brenda) and David (Nancy); 10 grandchildren, Will, Tony (Ashley), Curt,
Leslie (Brandon), Christopher, Elizabeth (Josh), Kelly (Michael), Scott, Sam
and Seth; 11 great-grandchildren, Annie, Luke, Cameron, Trey, Jase, Hannah,
Emma, Claire, Bryson, Bryleigh and Kennan. She will also be greatly missed
by her special friend, Theresa Lonker and caregiver, Phyllis Maynard. Gerry
retired from St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a tireless volunteer and enjoyed
assisting at the Jeffrey E. George Comfort House, was a Boy Scout and Girl
Scout leader, served as PTA president, organizer, and worked 17 years for
the Barboursville Little League concession stand, just to name a few. Gerry
was a woman who always had a project to work on. She loved quilting and
often gave her quilts to the homeless and needy. She also enjoyed gardening,
cooking, and most importantly, spending time with her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Funeral
services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Beard
Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Angela Gay Kinkead officiating. Burial will
follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. The family will welcome
friends from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. prior to services at the funeral home.
