Ruth Elizabeth Powers, 87, of Lavalette, WV, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, by Rev. Greg Edens. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Ruth was born April 14, 1923 in Lavalette, WV a daughter of the late Floyd & Ida O'Dell Mullens. She was a member of the Florence Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by 1 son James Arnold Powers, 1 sister Veloria Plummer, and 2 brothers Howard & Jim Mullens. Survivors include: her husband Harvey Powers, 1 daughter Judith Ann Ritchie & husband Ed of Jacksonville, Fl., 2 sons Dr. Harvey Benton Powers & wife Beverly of Denver, Colo., & Sam Powers & wife Amy McGinnis of Churchville, MD, 1 sister Gladys Plummer of Headland, Ala, 1 brother Sam Mullens of Huntington, 7 grandchildren, Julie Mount of Kitts Hill, OH, Jim Hale of Proctorville, Jessica & Courtney Lance & Hannah Powers all of Denver, Sean & Zachary Powers both of Churchville, MD, 1 great-grandson Justin Mount of Kitts Hill, and 1 aunt Opal Fisher of Lavalette. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Florence Memorial United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:00 AM until service time Thursday, June 17, 2010.
