Homer C. Smith

Homer C. Smith, 90, of Huntington, WV, died Wednesday June 30, 2010 at Woodlands Retirement Community. Homer was born December 1, 1919 in Wayne, Co., WV a son of the late O. Jennings & Meda Allen Smith. He was retired from Appalachian Electric Power of Huntington, where he worked for 40 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during WWII as a B-24 Bombardier in China. He was a member of the 14th Air Force "Flying Tigers" Association and a member of the V.F.W. Post 1064, whose members will conduct military graveside rites. Homer was preceded in death by his wife Flora W. Smith, 2 sisters: Ileta & Mabel, & 4 brothers: Floyd, Denzel, Chester, & Earl. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law; Randy & Andrea Smith of Arlington, TX and Larry & Robin Smith of Elko, MN; 3 grandchildren: Adam Smith of Arlington; Nate & Maddie Smith of Elko, MN; niece, Judy Bradbury & husband Poe of Ona; 1 sister, Violet Thacker of Huntington & 1 brother, Noval Smith of Saint Petersburg, Fla. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
