Arden Lee Wells
(January 30, 1929 - June 3, 2010)



Arden Lee Wells, 81, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday June 3, 2010 at home. He was born January 30, 1929 in Huntington to the late Emerald Wells and Goldie McIntyre Wells Bates Carlton. Arden was a graduate of Huntington High School, and served in the Army Air Corps in the late forties. He married his late wife, Marie Wells on April 23, 1949 in Spokane, WA. Arden joined the Huntington Fire Department in 1952, serving the department as Deputy Chief upon retirement in 1987. He received a distinguished award for serving as a volunteer for Rocky Ledges Girl Scout Council. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadette and Keith Wellman of Huntington, and Paula and Martin Sinozich of Greensboro, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, Britton and Lori Wells of Citrus Heights, CA; a brother, Bernard Wells of Clearwater, FL; two granddaughters, Amy Dowis and her husband, Brice of Kenova, WV, and Claire Sinozich of Greensboro, NC; three grandsons, Aaron Wellman and his spouse, Theresa of Annandale, VA, Andrew Wellman of Huntington, and Noel Sinozich of Greensboro, NC; four great grandchildren, Henry, Rose, and Cyrus Wellman and Katie Dowis; several nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Sue Selby and John Apel. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday June 7, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary with Paul Jordan officiating. The Huntington Fire Department will serve as Honor Guard, and entombment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Cridlin Food Pantry at 520 11th Street, Huntington, WV 25701. Friends may call after 1:00 PM until service time Monday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
