Obituary

Richard L. Cazad
(December 19, 1940 - April 23, 2014)



Mr. Richard L. Cazad, 73, Waynesboro, PA, died unexpectedly, Wednesday morning, April 23, 2014 in his home. Born December 19, 1940 in LeSage, WV, he was the son of the late Charles N. and Mabel (Meehling) Cazad. Mr. Cazad was a graduate of Barboursville High School. He and his wife of over 54 years, Kay F. (Cobb) Cazad, were married on January 19, 1960 in Huntington, WV. They have lived at their present residence for the past 16 years. Mr. Cazad served with the United States Army Signal Command for over 23 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant from Fort Ritchie, MD. While in the Army, he was also stationed in both Korea and Germany. Following his discharge from the military, he worked as a civilian at Fort Detrick, MD. He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 and Eagles Club, Inc., both of Waynesboro. Mr. Cazad enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan, especially for Baltimore Orioles baseball, and enjoyed coaching several little league teams in his younger years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Donald L. Cazad and his wife, Cathy of Landisville, PA; two grandchildren, Caitlin Cazad and Aidan Cazad; two brothers, Harold Cazad of Huntington, WV and Raymond Cazad of Barboursville, WV and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Phillip H. Cazad; and three brothers, Eugene Cazad, Billy Cazad, and Jimmy Cazad. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 PM Monday, April 28, 2014, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 PM Monday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington.
