Obituary

Kermit T. Blake, 94, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2008.  A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 at Milton Baptist Church with Pastor Allen Stewart officiating.  He was born January 12, 1914 in Milton, a son of the late Hubert and Nora Anderson Blake.  He was also preceded in death by one son, Rodney Swan; five brothers, Arnett, Curtis Dare, Blain, Connie and Hubert Jr.; four sisters, Opal Blake, Marie Wise, Faye Shamlin and Geneva Blake.  Kermit was a member of Milton Methodist Church and was retired from Blenko Glass Co.  He is survived by his wife, Sylvia L. Blake; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Barbara Swan of Milton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Arthur Powers of Milton; five grandchildren, Rodney Swan and his wife, Beth of Ashton, Arthur Powers II of Parkersburg, Stacy Morrison and her husband, Hank of Milton, Todd Swan of Belaire, OH and Kermit Powers of Milton; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Rev. James and Mildred Blake of Milton; one sister-in-law, Francis Blake of Milton; four nephews and six nieces.  Entombment will be private at Woodmere Memorial Park Abbey of Peace with committal service conducted by Pastor Joseph Jarrett of Milton Methodist Church.  Heck Funeral Home, Milton is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eccho, 1039 Smith St.; Milton, WV  25541.
