Myrtle Mae (Courts) Cooper
May 30, 1925 - Dec 31, 2008

 

II Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 

Myrtle Mae Cooper, 83, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Cabell- Huntington Hospital.  Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Winford Curry, Rev. Chelcie Gibson, and Rev. Mark Hesson officiating.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  She was born May 30, 1925, a daughter of the late Rev. Bennie, Sr. and Virgie Barnett Courts.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Kelson Cooper; brothers, Herschel, Jimmy, and Joe Courts; sister, Pauline Scarberry.  She taught elementary school for 36 years.  She taught at Meadowfield, Lower Creek, Central, Pleasant View, Webster View, Ona, and Milton.  She was a member of Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.  She was a member of WVEA and Order of the Eastern Star, Milton Chapter 149.  She was always visiting at the Senior Citizens Center.  She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Joyce Cooper of Milton; grandchildren, Kelsi Leigh and Colin Andrew Cooper; brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Karen Courts of Milton; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Bernard Lucas of Milton.  Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM,  Friday, January 2, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
