FRANCES ELOISE MCMELLON
Frances Eloise McMellon, 80, of Barboursville, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday evening, September 25, 2011, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Eloise was born March 28, 1931 in Milton, WV. She was the only daughter of the late Henry Davis and Lula Chapman Davis. Eloise married Donald Raymond McMellon, her high school sweetheart on July 20, 1949. In 1953, Don and Eloise entered full-time ministry and served in many churches over the 58 years of their ministry. During those years, Eloise used her beautiful gift of hospitality as a faithful, pastor’s wife. Eloise is survived by her loving husband, Reverend Don McMellon of Barboursville, WV. She was the loving mother to three children, Charlotte Ann McMellon Newberry and husband, Phil of Barboursville, WV, Paul David McMellon and wife, Sandy of Huntington, WV and Frederick Coleman McMellon of Barboursville, WV. Eloise was also the loving grandmother to Deide McComas and husband, Kevin McComas of Ona, WV, Matthew and wife, Donna Lawhon McMellon of Chesapeake, OH, Lori McMellon of Ona, WV, Heather Nye of Barboursville, WV, Shannon McMellon of South Shore, KY, Carrie Ann McMellon of Destin, FL and Valerie McMellon Dalton and husband, Jeff of West Hamlin, WV. Eloise had also lived long enough to be blessed with nine great-grandchildren. Shealyn White 15, Jake McComas 13, Maddie McComas 13, Kirsten White 12, JD Dalton 14, Collin McMellon 11, Drew Nye 6, Henry McMellon 2˝, and Owen Dalton 6 months old. Services are uner the direction of Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, WV. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, WV. Celebration service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, 5385 West Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, WV with Pastor David Lemming officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to services at LMBC on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center that provided such loving care; and also to Eloise’s roommate at HHR, Martha Williams and Martha’s daughter, Melinda who lovingly provided care and support as if Eloise was a member of their own family.
