Sam G. Holbrook
(April 4, 1943 - January 2, 2010)



SAM GILES HOLBROOK, 66, of Huntington, W.Va., was called to heaven on Saturday, January 2, 2010. Sam was born on April 4, 1943, in Huntington, son of the late Sam G. Holbrook and Hattie May Holbrook Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy LaLiberty. Funeral service will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jody Fortner and Pastor Willie May. Sam was retired from Owens Brockway, and served in the U.S. Army. Sam graduated from Huntington High School in 1961, where he played football for the Pony Express. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds fan. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Howell Holbrook; his son and daughter-in-law and daughter and son-in-law, Todd and Mary Holbrook and Amy and Randy Nicholas; one brother and sister-in-law, Toby and Lynn Holbrook. Sam was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Wes Skaggs, Madelyn, Sam, Audrey, Jack and Gracie Holbrook, Barrett Nicholas and a special bonus grandson and fiancée Richie Nicholas and Carrie Williams. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda and Harold Beaty and Rosie and Roger Chaffins; and a host of nieces and nepews. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
