Obituary
Joshua David Childers,
22, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on August 30th, 2012. He was born
in Huntington, WV, on June 17, 1990. Joshua attended Joy New Covenant Church
in Huntington, WV. He attended Grace Christian School during his elementary
years. He graduated from Spring Valley High School, where he had the leading
role in many plays, directed The Velveteen Rabbit, and received the Theater
Award for the Most Contributing Senior. Joshua was majoring in Electronic
Media at Ohio University Southern in Ironton, Ohio; he would have graduated
in May. He also volunteered for several years as a disc jockey for WMUL.
Joshua was employed at SRBI as a survey interviewer. His hobbies included
fishing, watching boxing, and drawing. In heaven, Joshua has joined his
brother, Christopher Childers; grandfather, Ralph Shelton; grandmother,
Christine Shelton; and uncle, Mark Childers. Joshua is survived by his
parents, David and Vicki Childers of Huntington; his sister, Sarah Beth
Childers of Morgantown, WV; his sister, Jennifer Childers of Fairmont, WV;
his sister, Rebecca Childers of Morgantown; WV; his grandparents, Elwood and
Emma Childers of South Point, OH; his uncle, Jan and aunt, Rebecca Hager of
South Point, OH; his uncle, Ralph (Bill) Shelton of Ashland, KY; his uncle,
Michael, and aunt, Patricia Childers of Waynesboro, VA; and his aunt, Connie
Shelton of Ashland, KY. First cousins included Jonathon Childers of Seattle,
Washington; Maggie Shelton of Ashland, KY; Christi Nolan of Huntington, WV;
Glenn Hager of Roanoke, VA; Jason Hager of Fairfield, OH; and Ryan Hager of
Huntington, WV. A memorial service will be held at the Reger Funeral Chapel
on Friday, September 7th. Visitation will be thirty minutes before the 2:00
pm service. Mrs. Candy Davis, a cousin, will be the main speaker. A
reception to celebrate Joshua’s life will be held immediately after the
service at St. Clouds Commons Community Center, five minutes from Reger. All
are invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Electronic
Media Dept. at Ohio U. Southern. Send contributions in Joshua’s honor to Don
