Bobby Eldridge Nelson
(July 22, 1939 - August 5, 2012)



Bobby Eldridge Nelson, 73 of Huntington, WV passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the VAMC Huntington. “If you didn’t look over him, you knew a great man.” Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church, by Pastor Tim Jayne and Pastor Scott Byard; burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova. Bobby was born July 22, 1939 in Wayne County, WV a son of the late Noah and Maltie Pack Nelson. He was also preceded in death by one brother Donald Millard Nelson. He attended Buffalo Valley Baptist Church, was a retired employee of Buffalo Middle School and a veteran of the US Army. Those that survive him include his wife Pattie McKinney Nelson, two sisters, Aileen Bailey of Florida, Hester Ellen Bailey of Kenova, WV, two brothers, Estel Lloyd Nelson of Huntington, and Alpha David Nelson of Prichard. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends on McComas Creek, the East Fork of 12 Pole that survive him as well. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Buffalo Creek Road. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova and the US Army National Honor Guard, from Kingwood, WV. The family would like to thank the Huntington VA Medical Center for their care of Bobby, Reger Funeral Home for assisting them in their time of need and the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova for performing military rites.
