Virgie May Scarberry
(March 23, 1922 - January 24, 2011)



Virgie May Scarberry, 88 of Ona, WV, went home to be with her Lord January 24, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Barker Ridge United Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Dailey. Burial will be in Barker Cemetery. She was born March 23, 1922 in Ashton, WV, a daughter of the late Ottie Raymond and Hilda Garnet Steele Wray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Woodrow Scarberry; two children, Johnnie Gilbert and Suzanne May Scarberry and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Terry Lovejoy, of Ona, Donna Scarberry of Crown City, OH, Kathie Powless of Blue Mound, IL, Sheila Scarberry of Decatur, IL, and Debbie and Ronnie Scarberry of Milton; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Dottie Scarberry and Basil "Ringie" and Sandy Scarberry, all of Ona, Richard and Carol Scarberry of Ashton and Gary Scarberry of Glenwood; one sister, Mary of North Carolina; two brothers, John of Parkersburg, and Curtis of Columbus; sixteen grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Huntington, Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House and Lois Norris and Ginger Nichols for their kindness and care during their mothers illness. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, and after 10:00 am Thursday at the church.
