Garland Lee "Hunky" Adkins
(August 28, 1953 - May 26, 2017)



Garland Lee Adkins “Hunky” 63 of Branchland, WV, passed away at home on Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born August 28, 1953 in West Hamlin, a son of the late Herbert and Zeda Lester Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his son, Stacey Lee Adkins. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Adkins-Chafin, son-in-law, Richard “Barry” Chafin, special grandson Ryan Adkins, special granddaughter, Audrey Chafin of Lexington, KY; mother of his children Donna Adkins, of Huntington, WV; three brothers, and their spouses, Thurman and Kathy Adkins of Barboursville, Mike and Gail Adkins of Branchland, and Terry and Andrea Adkins of Branchland; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was a 1971 graduate of Barboursville High School, and was retired from Steel of WV as a crane operator with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a love for antique cars and riding motorcycles. He will always hold a special place in his grandson Ryan’s heart and he could always put a smile on his granddaughter Audrey’s face. His grandchildren meant the world to him. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Bethlehem United Baptist Church, by Rev. Garland Perry. Burial will be in Marion Adkins Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm at the church. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements.
