ObituaryRandy Barker
Randy “Dale” Barker, 63, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 in St. Mary’s Medical Center after a valiant fight with an extended illness. He was born September 3, 1953, a son of the late Rudolph Barker and Naomi Davis Barker. He was a life-long resident of Huntington, where he worked and retired from SMC Electrical. Upon retiring, he devoted much of his time proudly serving as a member of the Honor Guard through American Legion, Post 93, a job which he was very passionate about. In addition to his volunteer work as an Honor Guard, he enjoyed fishing, Marshall football and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an animal lover and enjoyed his pets very much. He was a member of Minerva Lodge #13 A.F. and A.M. as well as a member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary Barker, Paul Barker and David Barker, as well as a very special canine friend, Brandy Barker. He is survived by his caring wife, Rhonda Wyatt Barker; a daughter, Kelly Golice and son-in-law, Jarrod Golice; two grandchildren, Issac Barker and Amelia Golice; and a granddog, Millie Golice. He is also survived by his twin sister Sandy Gale Varney; a sister, Connie Dougherty, a sister, Vicky Barker-Deem, all of Huntington; one brother, Bill Barker of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving, one cat, Smokey Barker. Dale was an incredibly strong person who refused to give up. He fought very hard right up until the end of his life, never giving up hope or faith. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Medical Center for their wonderful care. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Michael Collins and Dr. Shawn Coffman for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Minister Dearl Hutchison officiating with graveside service to follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
