Amelia Loretta Hicks
(August 18, 1929 - May 25, 2017)



Amelia Loretta Hicks, 87, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away May 25, 2017. Loretta was born on August 18, 1929, in Huntington and was a graduate of Barboursville High School. She was a Christian homemaker who deeply loved and cared for her family and was a longtime member of Olive Baptist Church in Huntington. Loretta was the daughter of the late Nathan and Maude Kitchen Ross. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Mullins and Glen Hicks; two sisters, Mildred Black and Erma Lee Berlt; and two brothers, Melvin Ross and Joe Ross. She is survived by one son, Charles Burle Mullins, Jr. of Salisbury, NC; daughters, Amy Morris of Murfreesboro, TN, and Vanessa Allison and husband Mark of Cary, NC; four grandchildren, Ian and Andrea Morris, and Claire and Chad Allison; and one great-grandson, Maddox Wedgworth. She is also survived by sisters and their spouses, Patricia (K.O.) Bowles, Kaye (Larry) Hamlin, Sue (Larry) Bell, and Vonnie (Kenny) Rigney; and brothers and their spouses, Gary (Janice) Ross, Michael (Leann) Ross, and Roger (June) Ross. A special thank you to the Tennessee State Veterans Home for their love and care for our mom over the past four years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tennessee State Veterans Home Activities Department, PO Box 10299, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. Also, a special thank you to Ronnie Painter for his love and support for Mom over many years and to Marilyn Hendricks for her dedication and care for Mom in her later years. Family graveside services will be conducted at 12 p.m. noon Sunday, May 28, 2017 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, by Pastor Bobby Ray. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
