Celina Lou Cook
(September 5, 1927 - May 29, 2017)


Celina Lou Cook, 89, of Barboursville, WV, died Monday, May 29, 2017 at Heartland of Riverview. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 by Pastor Bob Ray. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Celina was born September 5, 1927 in Barboursville, WV, a daughter of the late William A. and Anna V. Hicks. She retired from Owens-Illinois Credit Union. She was a member of the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ where she sang in the choir and worked in the food bank with her husband for many years. She enjoyed sewing and cultivating vegetables, flowers, and a large family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Cook, son Michael Cook, three brothers, Glen, Charles, and William Hicks, and three sisters, Mary Day, Bess Ray, and Jean Myers. Survivors include a brother Benjamin Hicks and a sister Suzanne and Mike Miller; two daughters, Nancy and Mike McKinney of Greenville, SC and Mary Ellen Harshbarger of Barboursville; one son, James and Angela Cook of St. Petersburg, FL; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, P.O. Box 400, Lucasville, Ohio, 45648. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
