Obituary

Doyla Legge Perry
(January 19, 1938 - August 5, 2018)

PERRY, DOYLA (Legge), former resident of Beavercreek, Ohio, died peacefully on August 5, 2018. Doyla was born January 19, 1938, in Huntington, WV, to the late Joe and Violet (Morrison) Legge. She attended Altizer and Barboursville schools and was a 1955 Barboursville High School graduate. She was also a graduate of the Huntington School of Business. She wed Franklin Perry on January 23, 1959, and they were married for 55 years until his death on January 31, 2014. Doyla was a member of Aley United Methodist Church in Beavercreek for over 40 years and was employed as a secretary for 25 years with James Investment Research. Doyla is survived by daughter Jennifer and dear son-in-law Michael Daly of Evergreen, Colorado, and daughter Jacquelyn Perry Berchtold of Brecksville, Ohio, and her three precious grandchildren: Shannon and Adam Berchtold and Maya Daly. She cherished her siblings, their spouses and their children: Lowell and Nina Legge; Willa Jean and Ollie (Kukie) Davis; Ronnie and Laura Faye Legge; Larry and Joanne Legge; Donna and Philip Hardiman; Brenda and Paul Harvey; Teresa and Charlie Baumgardner. She joyfully celebrated family births and found strength in family bonds with the passing of her parents, Joe and Violet Legge; brother, Lowell; niece, Andrea Baumgardner; nephew, Mike Legge; Kukie Davis; Laura Faye Legge; and Paul Harvey. The Perry family also became close to her and she loved them as her own: Jack and Edna Perry; Eileen and Don Ray; Ronald and Eleanor Perry; Philip and Connie Perry; Judy and Badge Mora; Sharon and Bill Reinhart; Kaye and Tom Trammell; Dixie and David Nash; Buck and JoAnn Perry. With them she mourned the passing of Jack and Edna Perry; Don Ray; Philip and Connie Perry; Badge Mora; Todd Perry; Mark Perry; and Greg Perry. Her many nieces, nephews and dear friends brought much joy to her life. Family reunions, celebrations, gatherings and weekends at Do-Do and Frank's house were special memories for everyone and were a way of connecting across the miles. Always the social events coordinator, Doyla made sure that the menu was planned and that there would be plenty of games and sing-alongs ready. Her daughters will be forever grateful for all that she taught us. Mama was so very brave and always, always persevered. Her life was an example of kindness, compassion, generosity, acceptance of all people and, above all, unconditional love. Family, friends and others whose lives Doyla touched are invited to the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. for visitation and for the funeral service on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. She will be buried beside her husband, Frank, at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
