William H. McCreery, Sr.
October 22, 1925 - April 22, 2009



William H. McCreery, Sr., 83, of Ona, WV, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Minister Willie Purdee officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 9738. He was born October 22, 1925 in Allegheny County, VA a son of the late William Archibald and Georgiana Bliffin McCreery. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae McCreery; three sisters, Anna Mae Baker, Joann McCreery, and Doris Bartram; and two brothers, Teddy McCreery and Jim Mc Creery. He was a retired Security Guard for the former INCO and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Guyandotte Church of Christ and VFW Post 9738. Survivors include: a daughter, Susanna Lee Pelfrey of Huntington; three sons, William H. (Carolyn) McCreery, Jr. of Huntington, Daniel K. (Pauline) McCreery of West Palm Beach, FL and Jeffery Mark McCreery of Huntington; three sisters, Helen (Freeland) Parsons of Hewitt, TX, Donna Marshall of Wayne, WV and Dianna Taylor of Proctorville, OH; three brothers, Thomas E. (Susie) McCreery of Dayton, OH, Charles C. (Kay) McCreery of Crown City, OH, and Lowell L. (Mary) McCreery of South Point, OH; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Chana) Pelfrey, Carrie (Ricky) Lara, Jessica (Mark) Boley, Brett McCreery and Brian McCreery, all of Huntington, Cristi McCreery of FL, William B. McCreery of GA, and Justin McCreery, Tyler McCreery, Nicholas McCreery, and Katie McCreery, all of Huntington; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Huntington. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, April 24, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary.
