Eleanor Jean Scarberry
May 27, 1928 - April 27, 2009



Eleanor Jean Scarberry, 80, of Lesage, WV passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with John Steele and Ernie Bowser officiating and J.L. Steele and Willie Steele assisting. Burial will be in Greenbottom Memorial Park. Grandsons, grandsons-in-law, and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. "Jean" was born May 27, 1928 in New Castle, PA a daughter of the late George William and Christine Rowan Coulter. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Coulter and Bernice G. Calhoun; and a son, Frank Victor Scarberry. She was a member of Glenwood Church of Christ and the Board of Directors at West Virginia State Farm Museum in Pt. Pleasant, WV. Jean, along with her husband, Bill, were founding members of the West Virginia Antique Engine and Tractor Club, where Jean served as secretary for many years and was a member of the board of directors. She was also a founder of the Greenbottom Community Center which was close to her heart. Survivors include: her husband, William G. "Bill" Scarberry; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda S. and John Steele of Washington Courthouse, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Wm. G. "Bill" Scarberry, Jr. and Kathy Schott Scarberry of Concord, NC; nine grandchildren, J.L. Steele IV, Dr. Willie Steele, Eddie Steele, Priscilla Steele, Carrie Scarberry Porter, Crissy Scarberry, DVM, Victoria Lynn Herbert, Frank Victor Jr., and Brittany Scarberry; and fifteen great grandchildren. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Chapman"s Mortuary. After the burial, lunch will be provided at the Greenbottom Community Center for a celebration of her life with family and friends.
