CLARICE "PAT" O. McCALLISTER SMITH, 83, of Kenova, WV, beloved wife of Richard E. Smith for 65 years, passed away May 3, 2009, after a long illness. Pat was a retired nurse, who worked in surgical and home health nursing, was a volunteer nurse with the Red Cross, and retired from the Wayne County Health Department. She was also a volunteer Sunday school teacher. She is preceded in death by her parents, W.F. and Alma Morrison McCallister, and her sister, Dorothy McCallister Powers. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Smith Holifield and her husband, Stanley, of Alabama; daughter Virginia "Ginny" Smith, of Kentucky; and son, Richard J. Smith and his wife, Lynn; of Kenova. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her nephew, Rex Powers, of Huntington. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. and services held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., by the Rev. Randall Robertson, both at Chapman's Mortuary. Burial services to follow at White Chapel.
