Madeline Barbara Rider, 95, of Huntington, widow of Raymond S. Rider, passed away Monday October 25, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. She was born June 15, 1915 in Wilmore, McDowell County, WV, a daughter of the late Harvey and Sarah Trent. In addition to her parents and husband, she had four sisters, Faye Auvil, Joan Jameson, Nona Barber, and Maxine Legato; and three brothers, James Trent, Raymond Trent, and Donald Trent, precede her in death. Madeline attended Apostolic Life Cathedral, was a former beautician, and had worked for the Huntington Dress Factory. Most of all she was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Donald Bell of Huntington and her son and daughter-in-law, Wilfred and Jeanette Rider also of Huntington. Other loved members of her family were five grandchildren and their spouses, Scott (Lynda) Bell, Mark (Melissa) Bell, Brad (Jeanna) Bell, Sean Rider, and Greg Rider; four great grandchildren, Ally Rider, Ashley Bryson Bell, Olivia Bell, and Cody Brown; and her sister, Jean Haupe of Morganton, NC. She was very deeply loved and her family will miss her greatly. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Huntington for their tremendous care and donations in her name will be appreciated. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday at Chapman's Mortuary with Pastor Edwin S. Harper officiating and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Entombment will be in the Christus Chapel, White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may call after 12:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
