Obituary



Alene Reeves Blackburn, 95, of Huntington, widow of Ovid V. Blackburn, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Woodlands Retirement Community. She was born July 15, 1920, in Logan Co. WV, a daughter of the late Walter B. and Lelia Stanley Reeves. Alene had a daughter, Charlotte Sue Berry Dalpe, also precede her in death. She was a retired teacher having taught in both Logan Co. WV, and Merrick, NY. She was a member of A.A.U.W. and P.E.O., as well as a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and David McMillan of Massapequa Park, NY; four grandchildren and spouses, Alene Herringer (John C.), Jamison McMillan (Lena), Jeffrey Berry (Sheila), and Deborah Rowe (Jeff); four great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 pm Friday, October 23, 2015, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Bob Talbert officiating. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. Friends may visit the family a half hour before services at the cemetery.
