Obituary



CECILIA (POWERS) BURROWS, 80, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was born in Huntington on August 5, 1937, a daughter of the late Patrick and Cleo Powers.  Cecilia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dale Burrows. In addition, she is survived by two daughters, Colleen Harker (Richard) of Huntington and Loretta Hayes (Mark) of Huntington; five grandchildren, Andrew Harker, Kristen (Harker) Schneider, Allison Harker, Rebecca Hayes and Sarah (Hayes) Navy; two great-grandchildren, Makenna Schneider and Micah Taylor; and one sister, Teresa Burns. In addition to her parents, Cecilia was preceded in death by her brother, James Powers and six sisters, Kathleen Page, Pauline Goff, Patricia Stallo, Ellen Brookins, Joan Yeager and Clare Lafferty.  Cecilia graduated from St. Joseph Central Catholic High School and attended Marshall University. She was employed as an office manager at several local businesses and retired as Administrative Assistant in the College of Liberal Arts of Marshall University. Cecilia was a faithful member of St.Joseph Catholic Church, and was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud “Nana”.  Family and friends will be received at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Huntington on Saturday, January 27, from 1 until 2p.m., at which time a Funeral Liturgy will be held with the Very Reverend Dean G. Borgmeyer presiding. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Reger Funeral Home of Huntington oversees arrangements.
