Obituary



Glen Williamson, 80, of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born June 16, 1937, in Crum, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Clifton and Veva Hammond Williamson but lived most of his life in Huntington. Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Louvonna Jean (Jeanie) Hatton Williamson; and a sister, Virginia Prichard. He was a member of the Jewel AF&AM Masonic Lodge #140 in Crum, West Virginia for more than fifty years and a member of the El Hasa and Beni Kedem Shriners. Glen served in the U.S. Navy Construction (Seabees) as a Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class and then began a career in the construction industry as a Union Sheet Metal Mechanic for 43 years. He was past President of Union Sheet Metal Local #418 and was co-owner of Air Systems Sheet Metal Company until his retirement. He is survived by his sons, Kevin Williamson, Michael (Stephanie Hamilton) Williamson, Dana (Dawna) Williamson; and daughter, Angie (David) Whitmore; grandchildren, Taylor & Zach Williamson; Tyler, Alexis, Casey, Chandler, Aden, Evan and Riley Williamson; Austin Williamson; Nick, Travis and Laney Whitmore; and Aidan & Alex Hamilton. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene (June) Williamson, Rayburn (Wanda) Williamson, and Doug Williamson; and brother-in-law, Terry (Tammy) Hatton; and a host of nieces and nephews. Glen was a caring man who was committed to his family, work and community. He enjoyed boxing, auto racing, golf, and the outdoors and was a former Golden Gloves Champion. He was a member of the American Legion Post #93 in Kenova, WV, former President of Little League 3 baseball and coached his sons in Midget League football at Cammack. He volunteered his time and resources to anyone that needed him. Glen was always there to lend a hand and a father to many who knew him. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Reger Funeral Home, 1242 Adams Ave., Huntington, WV. The service will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Reger Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.
